Intentional measures for museum accessibility give everyone access to unique art experiences at RAM. We are committed to continually improving the physical, sensory, and digital opportunities for interaction at both RAM locations.

Both locations will do their best to accommodate accessibility requests if contacted three weeks prior to a visit or event.
- Wheelchairs, electric mobility scooters, and Segways used for mobility are always welcome. Manually operated wheelchairs are available to borrow at RAM and Wustum reception on a first-come, first-served basis.
- One large accessible elevator is located on the first and second floors at RAM near the restrooms. A smaller elevator is located on the first and second floors in Gallery Four (Ruffo Gallery) and Gallery Five (Schumann Gallery). All elevators access the same floors.
- Wustum does not have an elevator, which limits some visitors to the first-floor galleries. The museum photographs all works on the second floor and displays them on a monitor inside the first-floor galleries for viewing.
- RAM’s and Wustum’s main entrances have an automatic door opener.
- All staircases have handrails.
- Benches and chairs are provided throughout public spaces in both museums.
- Service animals and service animals-in-training are welcome inside both museums. The animal must always be under physical or voice control of the handler and follow all other museum policies. Animals whose sole function is to provide emotional support, comfort, therapy, and companionship are not considered service animals and therefore are not allowed in the museum.
- Braille is included on signage designating floors and rooms at RAM.
- Light levels in some galleries are intentionally low for art preservation, which some visitors may find visually challenging.

Is the Racine Art Museum wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Both RAM Downtown and RAM Wustum welcome wheelchairs, electric mobility scooters, and mobility devices. Manual wheelchairs are also available to borrow at reception on a first-come, first-served basis.
Does the Racine Art Museum have elevators?
RAM Downtown has accessible elevators connecting the museum galleries and public spaces. Please note that RAM Wustum does not have an elevator, but second-floor artwork can be viewed on a monitor in the first-floor galleries.

Yes. Service animals and service animals-in-training are welcome at both museum locations when under the handler’s control at all times.
How can I request accessibility accommodations before visiting RAM?
Visitors can contact RAM in advance by phone or email to discuss accessibility needs. The museum recommends reaching out at least three weeks before your visit or event whenever possible.
