About the artwork.

California-born Warrington Colescott became an internationally known figure in contemporary printmaking while living and working for decades in Wisconsin. Following in centuries-old traditions of satirical print makers, Colescott created prints, drawings, and watercolors, such as this piece, that reflected his quick wit and pointed observations about modern society. With a style rooted in realism and accepting of the slightly fantastical, Colescott took on subjects such as civil rights, history, and politics, in his 70-year career.
