About the artwork.

Lia Cook began her work with an electronic Jacquard loom in the mid-1990s, coding patterns into a computer to create photographic weavings based on family photos and self-portraits. Her large-scale woven portraits seek to make connections between textile and embodied emotional response by connecting the tactility of cloth with close-up photographs of the face and body, as seen in Traces: Wonder.
