About the artwork.
Caren Heft is a letterpress printer, papermaker, and book artist. Heft is the proprietor and operator of Arcadian Press, where she creates one-of-a-kind and limited edition artists’ books. She uses her work to explore critical social, historical, personal, and cultural issues, including the murder of children and soldier’s stories from war. This particular work ruminates on the achievements of Dr. Hepcat, the first Black radio DJ in Texas.
