About the artwork.
Joan Takayama-Ogawa is a third-generation ceramic artist originally from Tokoname, Japan––a city known for its pottery production. Takayama-Ogawa, creates work that reflects her cultural heritage, personal and social interests, and/or an exploration of pattern and form. This teapot, with its visual complexity, also plays with the “idea” of teapots – a vessel with a hole in the middle may not be the most effective container.
