About the artwork.
Known for her printmaking, artists’ books, and typography design, Canadian born artist Claire Van Vliet started Janus Press in Vermont, producing artists’ books in both traditional and innovative formats. Summer Day/Winter Night, with linocuts by Ruth Fine, consists of two accordion-folded sheets of Japanese paper—one depicts a landscape in oranges and greens while the other reflects the same landscape with a darker palette of blues.
