About the artwork.
Jeffrey Lloyd Dever uses polymer (a workable plastic-based compound used to make modeling clays) to create adornment and objects inspired by the natural world. Although he uses dramatic hues, Dever does not blend color—rather he carves or incises patterns and lines, incorporating contrasting colors through multiple firings. Works such as the teapot Seeking Solace reflect his willingness to experiment with underlying armatures to achieve organic shape and form.
