About the artwork.
Born in Radom, Poland, Jolanta Owidzka attended the Academy of Fine Arts, Krakow and the Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw where she ultimately defended her studio fabrics thesis in 1952. Owidzka is considered a fiber art pioneer as she was pushing the boundaries of the materials during a pivotal period in the field in the mid-twentieth century. This work, Marmaris, while later in her career, shows how she manipulated the structure of her weavings.
