About the artwork.

Beth Van Hoesen is known for her realistic, hand-colored dry-point etchings of animals and people, though she worked in other printing techniques as well. Growing up on a busy apple orchard, Van Hoesen was inspired to draw at a young age and if she couldn’t observe something firsthand, she would turn to books and magazines. Many of her animal prints, such as Maharani, reflect her ability to capture the individual personality and character of her subjects.
