About the artwork.
Swiss artist Sylvie Fleury investigates cultural desire, luxury, consumption, and excess. Fleury takes aim at the manipulation of marketing which – in the context of her work – is usually concerned with gender and sentiment, such as in the Happy Clinique prints from the Sequence Series. While the compositions seem abstract, the reference to Clinique in the title clues in viewers with the cultural knowledge to understand that these are makeup combinations.
