Based in California, Jennie Lewis was employed as an artist by the Works Progress Administration (WPA). Associated with the San Francisco WPA in particular, Lewis created works such as Fisher Boats that documented the hillsides and urban areas of San Francisco, as well as its waterways and harbors.
