About the artwork.
Teresa Faris defines her practice through her worldview, her relationships, and her awareness of her Indigenous heritage. Since the 2000s, Faris has been collaborating with her rescued cockatoo, Charmin, as she explores species interconnectedness, advantages and disadvantages, and fragility on both metaphorical and actual levels. Collaboration with a Bird III highlights her companion’s presence and impact as it shows how Faris used wood bits Charmin crafted as decorative (and conceptual) components.
