About the artwork.
With a background in ceramics and mathematics, Kathleen Dustin turned to polymer as it was easily accessible and required little equipment. Dustin became a pioneer in working with polymer as an art media—pushing the boundaries of the materials conceptually and actually. Her Blooming Hibiscus Purse is an example of the adornment and wearables that she created that reflect her interest in cycles of life and stages of womanhood.
