HOTTEA (title forthcoming)

As part of the inaugural In/Between multi-arts festival, Minneapolis-based artist Eric Rieger, known as HOTTEA, transforms the gardens at RAM Wustum with an immersive installation created from suspended strips of colorful painted canvas. Through rhythm, movement, and chromatic density, this site-specific work reshapes the landscape and invites viewers to experience the familiar environment in a new way. HOTTEA’s installation becomes a vibrant exploration of the relationship between people and place, encouraging moments of connection and contemplation as viewers come together.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Eric Rieger, known as HOTTEA, is a contemporary artist recognized for his immersive installations that transform everyday spaces through color, material, and light. Working primarily with yarn and other unconventional materials, he creates large-scale environments that explore perception, movement, and the relationship between people and place. Drawing inspiration from graffiti, typography, and cultural weaving traditions, HOTTEA’s installations have been exhibited internationally in museums, galleries, and public spaces, including the Minneapolis Institute of Art; the Walker Art Center; the Museum of Graffiti, Miami; the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery; and the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. His work has been featured in publications including The New York Times, Forbes, Colossal, and Juxtapoz. Through his vibrant, site-responsive installations, HOTTEA continues to explore the intersection of community, craftsmanship, and contemporary art.
